31st October | Thekla
If you missed Snail Mail in Bristol this summer, then have no fear (or some fear) because she (Lindsey Jordan) returns to the city to play Thekla on Halloween night.
By the age of sixteen, Jordan had already released her debut EP as Snail Mail – 2016’s Habit – which was lauded by critics worldwide and no doubt reason for her signing to the Matador roster of artists. That and a steadfast touring schedule, putting in time supporting her contemporaries – Girlpool, Japanese Breakfast and Waxahatchee to name a few – and hitting the road solo.
Her debut LP Lush, released earlier this year, is the culmination of the past couple of years and testament to Jordan’s songwriting capabilities. Far from naïve, Lush is a rounded and impressive listen; textured and deftly-crafted guitar-driven power-pop that acutely lyricizes oft-identifiable experiences of teenage uncertainty in the span of a mere thirty minutes.
If you’re feeling at all disheartened that those bright days have been transposed with imminent winter gloom, then come and see Snail Mail for a final hit of charming summer-tinged lo-fi; a last minute ‘Heat Wave’ is coming.
