Having recently been hailed as BBC Music’s Sound of 2018, it’s fair to say that Sigrid’s year began with a bang. I’m usually pretty envious of people younger than me that are touring the world, but Sigrid’s girl-next-door vibe and infectious electro/synth-pop tunes make me wish that she was my best mate. After playing a string of gigs across the UK, the Scandinavian superstar is set to play a stellar show at Motion this weekend. After dropping her latest tune a mere 24 hours ago, it’s safe to say that anticipation for her show has only doubled.
Having started her music endeavours in 2013, Sigrid has since released a handful of singles, racking up a hefty amount of plays on Spotify. Her breakthrough tune, ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’ is rooted in electro-pop with flourishes of rock; her poignant songwriting is admirable and engaging. I imagine the live version will be goosebump-inducing and will have the entire crowd chanting.
Support will come from Norwegian artist, Fred Well. His electro-pop sound and sleek vocals are tender and electrifying. Sigrid and Fred Well are both certainly pushing Norway into the spotlight and are sure to make a lasting impression.
Sigrid’s latest single ‘Raw’ is out now. Grab a ticket for her gig at Motion this weekend if you still can; it’s gonna be a cracker!
