Raevennan Husbandes is one of those performers you may have heard a dozen times and not been aware of it. What you will have been aware of is the quality of what she produces. The singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is a serial collaborator, having worked with the likes of Lisa Hannigan, The Exiles and The Unthanks. She is a well travelled and classically-trained musician, having also appeared in the British Paraorchestra and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra.
More recently, she was at Bristol’s Trinity Centre towards the end of her three-year stint as a guitarist with Moulettes as part of their Behemoth tour. At the end of their heavier, more psychedelic period, they decided on a year’s hiatus to focus on individual projects. Raevennan’s previous solo work came in the form of 2014’s Box of Innocence EP. With inserts of gentle steel guitar and her delicate soulful voice, it had more of an Americana folk sound, laced with resonant acoustic guitar and string section parts. Now with more time to focus on her own material, we are most likely in for a helping of fresh and previously unheard music.
