The term “post-punk” is thrown around a lot with this London based quartet – with comparisons ranging from Joy Division and Siouxsie Sioux, to the New York caterwaul of A Place to Bury Strangers – but what is certain is that they aim to provide music in its most raw and visceral live state.
But to say Savages pack a punch is an understatement; they are a speeding bullet of consummate sonic catharsis; aggressive and relentless, full of jolty rhythm and insatiable chants, or broody, tense and unforgivingly driven.
Disregarding all comparisons, complimentary or cursed, Savages are a standalone band. With a universally lauded debut under their belts, and sell out dates around the world, they are surely one of the most in-demand bands of now. The quartet returns to grace the modest shores of the UK, hitting Bristol’s Trinity Centre in November.
