Joanna Gruesome ‘Peanut Butter’ | Album Review

Most tracks on the second Joanna Gruesome record clock-in around the two-minute mark, speaking volumes of their swift, lo-fi, pop-punk ideology. We’re met with the charming, high vocal which is often lacquered atop of their snatchy guitars and, after seeing how well Trust Fund’s debut was received earlier in the year, it’s hard to forget they’re pals who sit in a wholly similar vein.

The most prominent feature of this band, who met at Cardiff University, is perhaps the way they shy away from simple subject matter. Album opener ‘Last Year’, for example, is supposedly to about an occult meeting at a waterpark and pizza restaurant; a fitting metaphor for brilliant minds at work here?
