Fires ‘Self-titled’ | EP Review

Fires may have spent the last couple of years tweaking their sound — but new EP ‘Fires’ hears them truly find their own blues-indebted angle.

Its grubby charm plays into everything we love about the sulky guitar sound, and the perfect antidote comes with Sophie Hawes light vocals. Something akin to a woozy Honeyblood, opener ‘On My Way’ is like stepping into a live venue as the distortion flails from the beginning – a live energy that’s rarely absent.

We’ve had an absolute shower of great Bristol guitar music recently and this four track shows no signs of things letting up. Preach it.
