Alvvays are the perfect band to see as we take our first steps towards Spring. They’re not the first female fronted bittersweet pop group to emerge over the last year, but when listening to their highly personal music, you can’t help feeling they’re a step above the rest.

‘Archie, Marry Me’ was endlessly played on 6 Music, no doubt leaving the Toronto bunch a small place in the heart of the UK. Either that or everyone’s just latched onto the increasing talk of them, because tickets are shifting fast for their headline tour which is due to stop by Thekla on the 31st.

The summery guitars that colour 2014’s debut album bring to mind names like Honeyblood or Best Coast, this is a genre of music that will never die out, particularly because of the enchanting presence that it so easily evokes during live shows, you know, the kind that really opens your heart. Don’t miss it.
