One of Bristol’s most famous exports are returning for a very special hometown show next March.
To celebrate the 21st anniversary of the release of their revered album Mezzanine, Massive Attack are to stage an all new envisioning of the record in an elaborate venue called Steel Yard, a custom-built indoor space that will be constructed at Bristol Filton Airport, on the airfield.
Taking place on March 1st, the band have brought in many collaborators to develop an A/V reimagining of the record for 2019, including Cocteau Twins’ Elizabeth Fraser. The other artists involved will be announced a later date. The date will be as part of a UK tour, which will also see the group take the production to Glasgow, Manchester, London & Dublin.
Ever the progressive group, the band recently celebrated the record’s 20th anniversary by encoding it into 920,000 short DNA strands and releasing the record as spray paint, with each can including at least 1 million copies of the record.
Tickets for Massive Attack’s Steel Yard show are available from Friday 2nd November at 10am here.
