2nd May | O2 Academy

If there’s ever a band that can zen you out instantly whilst making you feel nostalgic, it’s English indie rock group, Gomez. Their debut album, Bring It On, was the soundtrack to many people’s 1998 and rightfully earned them the Mercury Music Prize. Now, twenty years on, the band are returning to the stage for select headline shows to celebrate this seminal record. Bristol is one of the lucky places to be on their tour circuit, with them coming to the O2 Academy on Wednesday 2nd May.

They’re fantastic to watch in a live setting. A sea of swaying bodies can be expected as people feel in tune with their music which focuses on traditional as well as electronic instruments.Their unique sound covers many genres including blues, indie, alternative, rock, folk, psychedelic and experimental. These three singers and four songwriters are still around all these years later for a good reason. They are mightily talented but also incredibly humble, with not the slightest hint of egos – always a pleasant and endearing quality to see in the music industry.

Proof that excellent music never truly ages, they can expect a very warm welcome from the O2 audience.
