Despite the fact you’ve only just managed to shake off your Christmas gut (or decided to give up trying to shake your Christmas gut), festival season is fast approaching. I know, I can’t comprehend it either.

We all know though that around this time of year spending upwards of £200 on a ticket to an event half a year off is not very appealing, but there’s plenty of ways of getting in for free. And the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition is a way to do so in style.

Every year the Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition invites new artists to submit their work to be considered by a panel of 40 music journalists, with the winner not only performing at the legendary festival, but also being given £5000 to help develop as an artist. Two runners up will also be given £2500. So all in all, a pretty sweet deal.

First of all you need to submit one link to one of your own original songs, then you need to submit one video of you playing live. Whether it’s of you in your bedroom, in your local pub or at your Nan’s 80th, it doesn’t matter. All of need to be sent into the competition’s website between the 18th January and the 25th January. That’s right, you only have one week.

So if you want to be in with a chance of winning (and who wouldn’t) make sure you get your track in next week. Head here to enter.
