Do you know what, I think 2016 might be Bristol’s year? I know it probably gets said every year, but there’s just so much great stuff coming out of the city right now it’s hard to ignore. Enter Fenne Lily, who many of you probably already know, delivering the first big entry for our wonderful city of 2016 with her breathtaking live version of “Top to Toe” from London’s Sofar sessions.
Sofar are known for their intimate and special gigs, putting on up to 10 shows every month. Each is a special snapshot of an artist at their most bare.
While watching Fenne’s incredible session it’s very hard to not be completely encapsulated by her voice, a beautiful midpoint between Laura Marling and Dry the River’s Peter Liddle, husky yet rich. Managed by the fantastic guys from Chiverin, who have championed Tamu Massif among others, she’s definitely worth keeping an ear on.
Not only that, but Fenne has also been announced as part of the first wave of Brighton’s Great Escape festival line up. Fenne, along with a whole heap of other Bristol artists look poised to do some serious damage in 2016. Get on board.
