This year the legendary Download Festival line-up stands established industry legends against some of the most forward-thinking new music around.

From a Bristol perspective, we’re excited to see local heroes Turbowolf tear apart a main stage in their natural habitat. Having fast carved a name for themselves with a pummelling brand of psychedelic rock, they’re impulsive, disgustingly heavy and just built for live shows.

Also given the recent sad cancellation of Temples Festival, there’s many fresh metal bands who were set to appear there on the Download lineup. Therefore, we may see some faces on the scene migrating north to Castle Donnington for their live fix this summer.

Anyone into heavier music will be aware of the mammoth influence artists like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Ramnstein carry in their genres and those much wider. They’re all renowned for bringing sheer spectacle and mayhem. So from a headliner perspective, it’s not going to disappoint.

Looking into the more modern realms of the lineup we see acts like Milk Teeth and ho99o9 appearing. After their recent shows here in Bristol, we don’t really need to question their authority on the bill. Combine the music with a solid mixture of entertainment away from music, it looks to be a truly bashful affair. We’re bloody ready.

Download Festival takes place from June 8th – 12th.
