Look back on Dot To Dot posters of old and you’ll see many young bands who’ve since achieved great things. The festival has always been about championing cutting-edge new music both local and from further afield. That’s why we can’t wait to get stuck in this year.
The line-up spans from headline indie-heavyweights Mystery Jets through to fresh acts like Spring King, Mt Wolf and Diet Cig. You could say it’s leaning towards a more pop-centric bill than previous years, something which seems apt as we head into summer.
One thing which needs to be shouted about is the amount of local bands appearing. We’ll be lucky enough to hear an acoustic set from the prolific Oliver Wilde, an appearance which comes on the back of his surprise new EP. Also the brand new project Rink are one to catch who bring similarly dreamy sensibilities. The local line-up is densely packed though, we can’t name them all but other highlights will be Tamu Massif, Fenne Lily and Liberto Wolf.
A couple of new venues have been added this year such as The Christmas Steps which will prove a treat. You can’t really go too wrong wandering around Bristol with beverages on board in attempt to seek out some new music. It’s truly a festival about discovery. Grab tickets here.
